Standard bio · 250 words
Dr. Joel Carboni is the founder and president of GPM and the architect of the standards, methods, and credentials behind Sustainable Project Management®, a GPM innovation delivered through the PMI-GPM joint venture and taught worldwide. He created the P5 Standard, the Sustainability Competence Standard, the Sustainable Project Management® Practice Guide, the Project Sustainability Reporting Guide, and the new Guide to Responsible Project Sponsorship, integrated into the PMI ecosystem through the Certified Sustainable Project Professional (CSPP™) certification.
For three decades, and worldwide, his work has focused on a single question: what does it take for sustainability commitments to survive contact with how projects actually get approved, funded, and delivered. His answer is governance-grade, threshold-based, and measurable. It is the basis for how thousands of project leaders now make decisions that hold up under scrutiny.
Dr. Carboni is a member of the Forbes Business Council, a contributor to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and a participant in UN SDG working groups. He received the IPMA Achievement Award for Integrating Sustainability in Project Management, and his book Becoming Regenerative was recognized by Thinkers50 for advancing regenerative practice in business. He serves as Global Ambassador for Sustainability at Thinkers360 and as a visiting professor at SKEMA Business School. His current work centers on regenerative project design and the governance architecture that makes it deliverable.
